For those coming to my classes, you might know that the form of yoga I am teaching is called Dru. But I am not sure I ever explained where that name actually came from!
The story is quite simple...
Dru comes from Dhruva Nakshatra which is the Vedic name of the North (Pole) star. Dhruva means constant, still, and unchanging. The North (Pole) Star is the one that remains fixed in the sky while all other stars appear to move around it.
The North Star has been named after Dhruva, the son of King Uttanapad.

The whole idea behind Dru yoga is then to find that place of stillness within ourselves and stop paying attention to the motions that are happening around us. In other words, finding the eye of the cyclone, where we can be aware of ourselves and observe our physical, mental, and emotional states.

Mais je ne suis pas sûre d'avoir déjà expliqué d'où venait ce nom!
L'histoire est assez simple ...
Dru vient de Dhruva Nakshatra qui est le nom védique de l'étoile du Nord (Polaire). Dhruva signifie constant, immobile et immuable. L'étoile du Nord (Polaire) est celle qui reste fixe dans le ciel tandis que toutes les autres étoiles semblent se déplacer autour d'elle.
L'étoile du Nord porte le nom de Dhruva, le fils du roi Uttanapad.

L'idée derrière le yoga Dru est donc de trouver ce lieu d'immobilité en nous-même et d'arrêter de prêter attention aux mouvements qui se produisent autour de nous. En d'autres termes, trouver l'œil du cyclone, où nous pouvons être conscients de nous-même et observer nos états physiques, mentaux et émotionnels.
